The first booklet in the Across Seasons set. A child follows one mob of eastern grey kangaroos through the hottest Australian months and learns to read what the animals are doing and why.
Across sixteen pages the booklet covers how kangaroos cool down in the heat, where the mob finds water when the grass is dry, how joeys grow inside and outside the pouch, why young kangaroos box without fighting, and what the mob does at night when the day is too hot to move. Each page pairs one observation with one thing the reader can do or look for. The booklet ends by sending the reader outside.
It is bilingual, English and Portuguese on facing pages. The science is named and printed in the back, so a parent or teacher can follow it to the source. The free companion adds real kangaroo recordings and links to open-access video, unlocked by the code inside the back cover.
What this is not. There is no story and no talking kangaroo. This is a short field guide that treats a seven-year-old as a capable observer of real animals.

Parent and teacher pack optional
An optional pack for the grown-ups, sold separately, that spans the whole series. Bought and used by an adult. It never asks the child for an account and never tracks the reader.
- Curriculum-alignment notes for AU primary.
- Lesson plans and classroom extension activities.
- A parent guide with conversation prompts across the books.
- The full cross-series citation chain in one place.
The child-facing companion stays free and data-free. The paid pack is an adult resource and never appears inside the child's companion. Pricing to confirm.
